Stage 1: User Research
My initial steps required me to learn all about the company and their internal structure. That also included the global teams in US, UK, Canada, China and India. Next steps were to explore alternative data solutions which lead me to detailed research into financial sector with analysis of trading platforms data visualization.
I’ve guided internal team through the creation of the new core design principles for the software, which were successfully established.
Stage 2: UX Design
Spotting the new opportunity of different complex data solution, I’ve created various scenarios and searched for the best way to implement new ideas. User-centered design was at the heart of everything.
Part of the job was also identifying the right tool and software for the company to use to create high fidelity User Flows, Wireframes and Prototypes. I’ve been working across the InVision, yEd Graph Editor, MockFlow and Axure RP.
Stage 3: User Interface and Visual Design
Next step was fully dedicated to the best practices of user interface design from carefully selected font and style to the flexibility of the software and web app which was the priority.
I’ve designed various user style guides. Clients’ choice was the dark skin design to align it towards artists and business needs. Their usual studio environment consists of darker tones and light.
Stage 4: Interaction Prototype
This was the highlight of my work. The challenge was to create custom prototype to truly showcase various ideas and demonstrate the future functionalities and solutions.
Initial thought was to build it using Axure RP, but after testing it out I’ve found certain limitations and opted for the alternative. I’ve build it up using Flash, as it gave us more flexibility for the future interaction features to be built in with ease.
Prototype was used for the internal presentations and meetings within company’s departments, key stakeholders and partners.
